Like most offices around the world, our Sydney office has been lying dormant.  Apart from the odd visitor here and there, one man stood strong and continues to make the daily trip into the city and work as people did in the “ole days”.

Matt shares his experience as a lone ranger in the office…

What’s the best thing that happened since working in the office alone?
The one thing I didn’t realise I loved so much is coffee my addiction has peaked…. So learning how to use the coffee machine in the kitchen efficiently and effectively has been life-changing. I think I can now see sound.

What’s something that you miss that surprises you?
Believe it or not its background noise and the general banter around the office.  Normally I march to the beat of my own drum amongst the chaos but when nobody can hear me, it is less exhilarating.  Also, I miss all my good teammates of course, but that shouldn’t be surprising.

What part of the office have you come to appreciate the most?
The kitchen, I normally don’t frequent it as often.  Oh but now, I am there all the time.  The walk to make my seven coffee a day minimum is the only exercise I have been getting…. Sometimes I leopard crawl to break up the day and make things interesting.

What unusual or quirky thing have you started doing regularly?
Other than enjoying how loud I can get in the office my daily vice has been this amazing curry I grab on the way home in Edgecliff.  Is it healthy to be eating curry every day for the last 3 weeks?  My takeaway addiction has gotten that bad I am trying out my own version of “intermittent fasting” meaning skipping breakfast so I can indulge later in the day.

I’ve also been indulging in dank memes and learning random fun facts thanks to upping my Simpsons-game – for instance, did you know that the common box kite was originally used as a means of drying wet string?

What’s a Movie, TV Show or Game you’ve been gripped by recently? Why did it capture you?
Panzer Corps 2– great game. Ironic, I know but it’s great to dash through the desert with my Flak 88’s. I love how it gets me thinking and keeps me occupied during chilly evenings.

Which specific destination are you most looking forward to visiting once this is all over?
I definitely want to go to Europe, specifically the Scandic region.
