Supporting Our Community

BIA supports the work of organisations that have a positive impact on communities in Australia. This support, given through team building activities, race days, fun runs, bike rides and fundraisers has given our business and our people a wonderful opportunity to learn about the work that these organisations do, and to contribute in some small way to their endeavours.
Some of these great organisations include:

The Cancer Council

Dementia Australia

Beyond Blue

Feel The Magic

Children’s Tumour Foundation

Building Bikes for Kids

Children’s Cancer Institute

The Heart Foundation

Children’s Brain Cancer Centre

SolarBuddy

Our 2024 Community Initiative

Starting in 2024, BIA pledges to make a donation to SolarBuddy for every policy bound on our broker platform, bindIT. This commitment not only signifies our support to SolarBuddy’s mission to make a tangible impact on the lives of those living in extreme energy poverty, but also reflects our belief in equality of opportunity for all individuals.

Illuminating Futures, One Policy at a Time

The mission of SolarBuddy to gift millions of solar lights to children living in extreme energy poverty resonates with BIA's vision of supporting communities. Through this commitment, we aim to contribute directly to SolarBuddy's objectives of enhancing educational outcomes, health and well-being, and economic stability in communities affected by energy poverty.

Our 2023 Community Initiative

Cancer of any kind is challenging for the person with the diagnosis, and their family. This is especially the case when a child is the one who has to grapple with this terrible disease. Childhood brain cancer is difficult for families because treatment options are not much improved from 30 years ago.

However, a talented, dedicated group of individuals is seeking to change that and make positive steps towards changing the quality of life and the outcomes these brave kids and their families face.

That’s why BIA is proud that in 2023, our charitable activities will contribute to the work of the Children’s Brain Cancer Centre.

The goals of the Children’s Brain Cancer Centre are to:

Contribute to the Australian Brain Cancer Mission

Double survival rates for those diagnosed with brain cancer within the next 10 years

Improve the quality of life of those living with brain cancer

BIA will support the potentially life-changing work of the Children’s Brain Cancer Centre by donating $1 from every single policy bound on our bindIT platform in 2023. bindIT is our market-leading offering to insurance brokers that makes the process of quoting, binding and managing the policy process simpler and faster.

Our Ongoing Community Initiatives

In addition to our 2023 commitment to the Children’s Brain Cancer Centre, there are a few other initiatives we provide ongoing support to and that we are excited to be part of, including:

Community Underwriting

Charities and not-for-profits, like any other organisation, need insurance. Community Underwriting is a unique and innovative Underwriting Agency that provides insurance to around 4,000 Not for Profits across Australia. BIA is proud to be Community Underwriting’s insurance provider. Community Underwriting  allocates a percentage of annual surplus funds to a donation pool that is then distributed to clients who have renewed their insurance.

Since the program began in 2014, Community Underwriting has donated over $5 million to clients in the not-for-profit sector including charities like Meals on Wheels NSW, Joblink Plus and Dementia Australia.

Berkley Asia Pacific Social Club

This is our internal committee of passionate staff who give up their time to organise events, fundraisers and programs that support our charitable endeavours. In addition to raising funds, these events give our staff a valuable opportunity to learn more about causes that matter to their colleagues and the community.

Moving Forward

We're proud of the impact that these initiatives are having.

Thank you for your interest in BIA’s community service initiatives.
We look forward to keeping you updated on our journey to serve our communities and the work of the organisations who make a positive difference in them.
