Celebrating 10 Years | Andrew Clark

Congratulations to Andrew Clark one of our Senior Claims Adjusters who celebrated their 10 year anniversary with Berkley Insurance Australia. The business has come a long way since Andrew started. We are thankful for his contribution to claims management which has helped us evolve into the insurer we are today.

We sat down with Andrew to ask him a few questions about the last 10 years…

Can you tell us more about your role and background?

I started working with Berkley Insurance Australia on the underwriting side of the business before moving into the Claims team whilst it was still in its infancy.  From there I progressed into my current role as a Senior Claims Adjuster in the Claims team based out of Sydney.  I am responsible for managing a portfolio of claims across a broad range of policies and disciplines.  I am also studying law via the Legal Profession Admission Board.

What do you like most about working at BIA?

BIA’s culture is not something that has happened by accident, it’s something that each member of the company has worked hard on achieving and ensuring is not eroded.  It’s rewarding to be able to work for a company that has such a collegiate and supportive atmosphere.

What is your favourite part about your job? What excites you most?

The nature of claims and BIA’s lines of business is such that you’re constantly exposed to expansive and highly diverse issues both factually and legally so you’re always dealing with a new challenge and it’s never a dull moment.  It’s also rewarding to be a sounding board for other members of the Claims team, helping them work through any challenges that may pop up.

What has been your biggest achievement in this 10 years?

I’ve been fortunate to receive some excellent feedback from our clients and brokers over the last 10 years but receiving an Insurance Business Young Guns award in 2019 was definitely a highlight as is the Claims team’s consistent nomination for Best In-House Team in the Australasian Law Awards.

What is your biggest hope for the next decade at BIA? In what ways do you expect to grow?

BIA was still a small company in Australia when I first joined 10 years ago and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the company develop over the years into what it is now and to see that we are still delivering such high levels of service to our clients and brokers, especially over the year that has been.  With BIA’s emphasis on innovation, I’m sure our growth will continue well into the future.
