Tell us a bit about being an Underwriter?

For almost 20 years, I have enjoyed giving people comfort and joy.  I am happy to scope people out and risks. My family and work colleagues are those that I protect first

How do you like your coffee?

Double shot, large skim flat wha!!!!.

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

My entire life is an achievement, but to be specific….my wife, my 3 children and most recently my grandson……yup. That’s right I am a Grandfather!!!

Let’s have some fun. Going to Chicago and seeking a Bulls game (bad or not). Was a life experience!!! Breathe, hear, shout!!!!

I also feel that we take ourselves way too seriously in the insurance industry!!

What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?

Each day is a blessing…  Two days a week I come into the office and the rest of the week I work from home. I have no nothing bad to say about what we do… It’s just got to be done because I love my job….no seriously I love what I do!!

What are three words to describe Berkley Insurance Australia?

Just good eggs!!

What is something people in insurance have to deal with that you want to fix?.

Education of young underwriters – Get rid of social media.  Face-to-face is best to learn your ABCs.

What do you like most about working with brokers?

How I can learn from their aspect of life and bounce back our aspect also.

When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?

The last Melbourne Cup prior to COVID. Such a good team at BIA.

What podcasts or books are listening/reading right now?

I’m not into podcasts… yeeeettt!!! At the moment learning about my South American history with “Che” and seriously that will never end.  Also learning about my wife’s background…Filipina, such a beautiful culture, food… everything!!!!

What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure would be buying Air Jordan sneakers and sneakers in general. To the point that I have run out of room in my wardrobe.
