This year marks five years of bindIT – a milestone that reflects not only platform longevity, but the strength of an idea built with brokers, for brokers.
Since its launch, bindIT has been designed to make placing long‑tail risks simpler, faster, and more efficient, while still preserving something that matters deeply at Berkley Insurance Australia (BIA): choice. Five years on, that philosophy remains unchanged only the capability has grown.
From a Single Product to a Multi‑Product Platform
bindIT began its journey by offering brokers a streamlined way to place IT Liability risks. The response was immediate and clear: brokers valued a platform that reduced friction without losing underwriting integrity.
Since then, bindIT has expanded to support a broader suite of long‑tail products, including Professional Indemnity, General Liability, and Management Liability. Today, brokers can place these risks on a single, intuitive platform that supports quote, bind, policy issuance, and servicing helping teams move faster while staying in control.
Listening First: Enhancements Driven by Broker Feedback
The past year has been marked by continued evolution driven squarely by broker feedback and a shared focus on efficiency.
One of the most impactful recent enhancements is the introduction of multi‑product quick quoting. Brokers seeking terms on one product can now receive indications across other relevant bindIT products helping them respond faster to clients while identifying broader coverage opportunities based on a single submission.
Another highly practical enhancement is the addition of Glass cover within General Liability. In response to feedback around lease‑driven insurance requirements, bindIT now allows brokers to offer Liability and Glass together without the unnecessary complexity of a full Business Pack policy. The result is a simpler, more targeted solution that better fits the real‑world needs of many clients.
Supporting Broker‑Led Programs
Recognising that many brokers specialise in particular industries or professions, bindIT now supports specific program categories. These sections can be tailored with agreed rates, wordings, and criteria providing a powerful way to manage niche portfolios efficiently.
This capability allows brokers to consolidate similar risks, streamline administration, and still benefit from all the core features of bindIT, from multi‑product quoting through to policy issuance and claims experience requests.
Features That Make Everyday Work Easier
Beyond headline enhancements, bindIT continues to deliver practical tools that save time where it matters most. Brokers placing business via bindIT can now download claims experience directly from the platform, reducing reliance on manual requests and phone calls and supporting faster conversations with clients.
And importantly, these enhancements are available now with training and support always close at hand through local BIA underwriters.
Choice Has Always Been the Point
While the platform has evolved, the underlying philosophy has not. bindIT is one of several ways to do business with BIA, alongside Open Market underwriting teams and SCTP. Brokers decide how they want to engage and regardless of channel, they continue to work with the same local BIA contacts they know and trust.

Five years in, bindIT continues to grow in usage and relevance. As the year progresses, further enhancements are planned including additional product capability, fewer referrals, and even more efficiency building on foundations shaped by strong broker collaboration from day one.
