Berkley Insurance Australia is delighted to announce winning the Insurer of the Year Award (2022) for the Insurance Business Brokers on Insurers 2022. After winning this award in 2021, we have continued our winning streak to claim the prestigious Award once again this year.

One of the hallmarks of our service is our fast turnaround times for responding to claims, risk submissions and requests for quotes. In spite of the pandemic, our teams have done a fantastic job of adhering to this performance standard during the past year, and we are thrilled that brokers have acknowledged our efforts.

“Our focus is to always be responsive and get back to brokers quicker than anybody else. That includes underwriting and claims, so it is pleasing to see we achieved gold in both of those categories” said Wheatley.

Staying strong during a hard market

Being in a hard market is never a smooth ride for brokers and policy holders. The events of the last two and a half years have been especially rough for many of our clients. Brokers have been under enormous pressure, trying to secure the most optimal insurance solutions, that will give their concerned clients some comfort and reassurance during this unsettling time.

As a business, we were determined to become more attentive to the needs of our clients than ever before. Our underwriting and claims management teams showed true professionalism in providing such outstanding service to our brokers, even when faced with the challenges of working from home during the pandemic.

It’s their excellent local knowledge that our brokers know they can rely on. Whenever a broker has a policy matter that they need to be clarified, they know they can always call their Berkley Insurance Australia underwriter for a quick catch-up.

Now, with BindIT, we’ve given brokers an advanced digital alternative to make servicing their clients even easier. They can use BindIT to obtain quotes, download documents and bind policies.

“Already in 2022, we have released PI on the SCTP and Management Liability on our own BindIT platform. These platforms are backed up by the same underwriters who have achieved such great results in other categories, so we would hope to see improvement across this area” added Wheatley.

Already we’ve received very positive feedback from many of our brokers who find the BindIT platform so straightforward to use. Of course, brokers can use the traditional methods of dealing with BIA if they wish, BindIT is simply an extra option.

“Once the IT Liability and ML products are settled in on BindIT, we will be looking to add other new products” Wheatley said.

As an organisation, Berkley Insurance Australia has always placed great importance on the development and training of our people. During the last year, with many of our employees working remotely, we’ve had great success with our online training.

“Our training and development has been really well received with many of our webinars achieving over 1,000 attendees” said Wheatley.

Berkley Insurance Australia is always looking ahead and exploring new ways to better serve our clients. Winning awards is nice, but we’ll always find the most value in helping our community.
