Celebrating the Impact of the Community Underwriting Grants Program

Community Underwriting, an award-winning underwriting agency, continues to demonstrate its commitment to giving back to the Not for Profit Sector. With a unique business model and insurance security provided by Berkley Insurance Australia (BIA), Community Underwriting has been able to support numerous charity organisations through its annual grants program. In 2022, the Community Underwriting Grants Program was able to allocate 46 grants, thanks to the support of brokers and business growth.

As a proud partner, BIA would like to highlight Community Underwriting’s commitment to giving back, the variety of projects funded by the grants program, and the lasting impact these grants have on the community.

A Commitment to Giving Back

Under the leadership of Executive Director Graeme Berwick, Community Underwriting donates 70% of its annual surplus to eligible Not for Profit (NFP) shareholders. In addition, Community Underwriting sets aside 5% of its annual surplus for a small grants pool, enabling smaller organisations that cannot become shareholders to apply for project-specific funding. Since its inception in 2014, the grants program has awarded a total of 198 grants, amounting to nearly $500,000, with contributions from insurer partners.
