Strengthening Security with Multi-Factor Authentication on bindIT
In our ongoing commitment to safeguarding the confidentiality and integrity of our broking processes, we are excited to announce the implementation of Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) on the bindIT platform.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is an enhanced security protocol that requires more than one method of verification to access an account. It combines something you know (like a password) with something you have (such as a one-time passcode sent to your phone). This method is already familiar to many of us who use it daily, such as:
- Withdrawing money at an ATM, where you need both your bank card and your PIN.
- Securing our homes, combining a physical key with an alarm code.
Why MFA Matters for Your Business
MFA is critical in defending against unauthorised access, blocking up to 99.9% of potential breaches resulting from compromised credentials (Microsoft, 2019). With frequent incidents of data breaches and phishing attacks, the traditional single-layer password system is no longer the best way to protect against unauthorised access to, use or disclosure of, data and informationā€”especially for insurance professionals handling sensitive client information.
Implementing MFA means that even if a password is compromised, threat actors cannot access to data and information without the second verification factor. This substantially minimises the risk of data and information theft or loss.
Seamless Integration on bindIT
Soon, your bindIT login experience will require MFA. Hereā€™s what you need to know:
- No initial setup required: The transition to MFA will be seamless. No action – other than reading and accepting our updated terms of use – will be required on your part to set up and use MFA.
- One-time passcode: Each time you log into bindIT, a passcode will be sent to your email, which you will use along with your password.
Your Support System
Our dedicated team of local underwriters is available to assist you with any questions or needs that arise during this transition. We understand the importance of a smooth, secure user experience and are here to support you every step of the way.
Looking Forward
This enhancement to our security protocols on bindIT optimises protection of client data and information. We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to working with us to maintain information security.
