Gareth Edwards
National Head of Claims
Gareth leads the claims team as the National Head of Claims for Berkley Insurance Australia. Gareth has a broad experience base going back to 2001, having worked with an underwriting agency, brokerages and insurers. Gareth has similarly worked with a broad range of clients, including retail, SME, large corporate and government, and across a broad range of product lines, including first party, third party and statutory classes lines. In the third party liability lines, Gareth is an experienced litigator, having been involved with defending numerous actions brought against insureds at all levels of the state and federal court systems. This background provides Gareth with a unique perspective in understanding BIA’s clients’ needs. Gareth has a Diploma in Financial Services through ANZIIF, as well as degrees in Business and Law.
Darren Quek
Technical Claims Manager
Darren has many years of experience in the insurance industry, starting his career overseas as an auditor for an international accounting firm then later as a solicitor in NSW for several national law firms in the insurance litigation field. Prior to joining BIA, Darren worked inhouse as a claims solicitor for one of Australia’s largest supermarket chains handling its liability claims. Darren’s experience sees him adopting a strategic approach to claims management to achieve an optimal outcome for stakeholders. Darren is responsible for the day-to-day management of a wide variety of claims nationally in the professional indemnity, public liability and management liability space including claims against health professionals, accountants, lawyers and construction professionals and is a strong addition to the BIA claims team.
When he is not managing claims, Darren enjoys attempting to play golf (without realising it is a way to ruin a good walk) and going fishing to catch that elusive ‘big fish’ or any fish.
Aman Kainth
Claims Team Leader
Amandeep Kainth is a dedicated Multi Lines Claims Adjuster at Berkley Insurance Australia. With a Bachelor in Business majoring in Accounting, he brings a strategic approach to claims handling. Amandeep’s passion for the insurance industry led him to Berkley Insurance Australia in February 2022.
With a sharp eye for detail and a passion for helping clients during challenging times, Amandeep is committed to delivering exceptional service and making a positive impact in the insurance world. Specialising in liability claims, he provides personalised attention to every case. Amandeep’s empathy and analytical skills ensure efficient and effective claim resolutions, making him an invaluable asset to the team.
Andy Taylor
Claims Adjuster
Andy works as a Claims Adjuster for Berkley Insurance Australia, based in the Sydney office. He has over 20 years’ experience in the reinsurance industry, working predominantly in the claims area, with a reinsurance broker and a large global insurance company. Andy has handled reinsurance claims across multiple classes of business including medical malpractice, professional indemnity, public liability, workers compensation, compulsory third party and property.
In March 2025, Andy joined the claims team at Berkley Insurance Australia bringing along his extensive experience and strong customer focus.
Outside of work, Andy enjoys a mixture of outdoor sports activities including cycling, kayaking, swimming and running.
Lincoln Menser
Claims Team Leader
Lincoln is a committed claims adjuster who’s experience spans across almost 30 years in the insurance industry.
Lincoln started his career in NSW Statutory Classes and his background includes first party and third party claims across retail and corporate, SME, Housing Industry and local government across various product lines including property, cyber crime and directors and officers liability. He has extensive experience in the court litigation process and has long been known by his peers as a collaborative, customer service focused professional making him an asset to the BIA claims team.
Lincoln’s studies include business management and he has completed qualifications in Financial Services through ANZIIF.
Adam Simic
Junior Multi Lines Claims Adjuster
Adam Simic is a Junior Multi Line Claims Adjuster at Berkley Insurance Australia. He holds a bachelor of Commerce and Laws from the University of Sydney and is currently completing his Practical Legal Training.
As a recent graduate and new entrant to the insurance industry, Adam is looking forward to building his expertise in claims handling. He has a strong interest in how legal principles translate into practical, commercially focused outcomes, and approaches his work with a focus on continuous learning, attention to detail, and delivering clear, effective solutions.
Outside of work, Adam enjoys keeping active and spending time outdoors
Joe Weste Haldane
Junior Multi Line Claims Adjuster
Joe’s previous experience as a Duty Manager and Operations Supervisor strengthened his customer service skills, empathy, and ability to build practical client relationships, while also providing early exposure to the insurance and claims environment. Joe holds a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, which equipped him with strategic capabilities across financial management, operations, and risk. Outside of work, he enjoys attending sporting events and live music, and is actively involved with the Bondi Surf Life Saving Club.
Reese Yang
Claims Adjuster
Reese is an experienced Claims Adjuster with nearly two decades in the insurance industry across Australia and New Zealand. She has worked in both insurer and brokerage environments and has managed complex claims in Accident & Health, Property, Marine, and Liability, with a strong foundation in technical knowledge and a people-focused approach.
Reese holds a Bachelor and Master of Business and is an ANZIIF Fellow CIP.
Outside of work, Reese enjoys an active and creative lifestyle. She is a certified Pilates instructor, an active fencing practitioner, and a dedicated glass‑casting artist, with her pieces occasionally appearing in exhibitions.
Ayesha Omer
Senior Claims Adjuster
Ayesha is a Senior Claims Adjuster at Berkley Insurance Australia with over 10 years of experience in claims and private practice. Prior to joining Berkley, Ayesha worked at a national insurance litigation law firm in Sydney. Ayesha is a Solicitor registered in New South Wales and is also an overseas-qualified lawyer. She completed her Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws in England and obtained her Certification in Australian Law and Professional Legal Practice from the University of Technology Sydney.
In private practice, Ayesha worked overseas in transactional law, focusing on mergers and acquisitions for international clients. In Australia, she worked for a plaintiff personal injury law firm before transitioning into insurance law. She specialises in financial lines claims, with a particular focus on professional indemnity matters involving accountants, architects, solicitors, and barristers, as well as management liability claims, including D&O, company, and statutory liability.
Outside of work, Ayesha enjoys cooking for family and friends, gardening, and travelling.
