Our Local Claims Team | Kristy Beaumont
Tell us a bit about being a Claims Adjuster?
No day is the same. Each claims adjuster is able to assess a variety of differing classes of claims from the many insurance products we offer.
How do you like your coffee?
By intravenous drip….flat white or a short black/macchiato as the day progresses.
What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
My biggest achievement personally is probably being brave enough to surgically repair my knee ACL’s for the 5th time. I am trying to set an example for my children that sometimes our bodies don’t operate the way they should and to try and do the best to live as fulfilling and active life as possible, even if it means going through the painful and tedious task of surgery and rehabilitation.
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
I wake up at 6, help get my 3 kids ready for school, log on around 8am and read my emails and set a plan for the day of tasks to achieve. I typically will not move from my desk until after 1.30PM, eat a quick bite, and then back to the desk until my husband reminds me that it is time to have dinner. Rinse. Repeat.
What are three words to describe Berkley Insurance Australia?
Inclusive, Innovative and Interested.
What is something people in insurance have to deal with that you want to fix?
The client & brokers understanding of the purchased insurance product. There are many instances that an insured believes they have purchased a policy that covers them for any and all claims against them when in fact the terms of the policy may be limited.
What are the benefits of an in-house claims team?
The broking representative can speak directly to the case manager, we have access internally and externally to legal & relevant experts and we have the authority to expeditiously make decisions on indemnity and offers of settlement where appropriate.
When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
Regaling tales of twentysomething misadventure during a destination wedding with my best friends in Sweden.
What podcasts or books are listening/reading right now?
I am reading ´Where’d you go Bernadette” by Maria Semple and listening to The Ron Burgundy Podcast.
What is your guilty pleasure?
The handmade combination noodles and steamed pork& chive dumplings at the Northern Chinese Noodle House on Quay Street, China Town Sydney. A former work colleague introduced me to them 20 years ago, I craved them during each pregnancy and everyone I take there are immediate converts.
